Who is eligible to take a Pivotal certification exam?

Our certification exams are available to administrators, developers, architects, data scientists/analysts and other professionals who desire to prove their proficiency in a given area. We offer a range of courses to help you prepare you for our certification exams. However, you may purchase and sit for a certification exam any time you like.

Can I get certified without taking a training course?

Our training courses are the best way to gain the knowledge tested in our certification exams. However, class attendance is not a required step in the certification process.

How do I purchase a Pivotal certification exam?

Exams are available for purchase on our website. You will receive instructions for scheduling an exam date via email once you purchase your exam. Please look for an email with the subject line, "Pivotal Academy: Exam Enrollment." This email provides all the information you need to schedule an exam date. When you purchase your exam, please note the date by which you must take the exam. Each exam is assigned to you for a specific period of time (90 days), and the exam must be taken within the allotted time.

What happens after I purchase an exam?

You will receive a confirmation email with instructions for accessing your exam within a few minutes. Please look for an email with the subject line, "Pivotal Academy: Exam Enrollment." If you do not see the email in your inbox, please check your spam folder.

I have not yet received my exam voucher.

If you purchased an exam from our website, you should receive a proof of purchase and exam registration instructions within an hour. If you do not, please contact us by filling out the contact form. If you took a Pivotal Training course that included one (1) free exam attempt, please allow 2-3 weeks after the course ends to receive your exam access instructions. Please contact us if you have been waiting longer than 3 weeks for your exam access, and include the course name, course date, and course location in your message.

When does my exam voucher or eligibility expire?

You have 90 days from the date of your exam purchase to take your exam. Please schedule an exam date as soon as possible after your exam purchase to confirm an exam date. You can find your exact expiration date on your purchase confirmation email. You can also locate your exam expiration date by logging into examslocal.com and clicking "My Account" at the top of the screen. Select "View eCredits & Eligibilities" from the menu on the left to view your available exams and expiration dates.

Can I take the exam at a testing center?

All our exams are offered online and are remotely proctored by PSI / ExamsLocal. You can take Pivotal exams from any location in the world as long as you have a valid (unexpired) form of government-issued photo identification and your personal computer meets basic system requirements. Please do a system compatibility check prior to purchasing the exam. We do not offer our exams in a traditional testing center environment.

Which testing center is closest to me? / Where is the closest testing center?

How far in advance must I schedule an exam?

Exams must be scheduled with the exam provider at least 24 hours in advance and can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance. Exam dates are not guaranteed until scheduled and are based upon proctor availability. Please schedule your exam well in advance to ensure you are able to take your exam prior to the exam expiration date.

How can I extend my exam expiration date?

Exams are assigned to each candidate with a specific expiration date. Candidates must take the exam prior to this date. If you are unable to take your exam prior to the expiration date, you can purchase a new exam at pivotal.io/training/certification. Exam expiration dates will not be extended.

How can I replace my expired voucher?

What happens if I miss my exam?

Failure to attend an exam, arrive at the designated start time, present a valid (unexpired) form of government-issued photo identification, or pass the system compatibility check will result in forfeiting the exam session and fee.

How can I get a hard copy of my certificate?

We do not provide hard copies of certificates. Instead, we provide an electronic certificate. If you were certified after January 2016, you are also eligible to receive a badge that can be shared, displayed, and verified across all electronic media, including social media.

How do I view my certificate and badge?

You should receive an email with instructions for viewing and sharing your certificate from BadgeCert within three (3) business days of passing your exam. Please check your inbox and spam folder for the notification from BadgeCert. If you do not see the notification, please go to badgecert.com and login using the same email address you used to take your exam. If you do not have a password, click the "forgot password" option to create a new password. If you continue to have trouble accessing your certificate and badge, please contact us.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

Each exam purchase is valid for one (1) exam attempt. If you do not pass the exam the first time, please visit our Pivotal Academy store to purchase a new exam.

How long will I need to wait between exam attempts?

You must wait a minimum of three (3) business days.

I had technical trouble during the exam. Can I re-take the exam?

Which questions did I get wrong on the exam?

We do not provide feedback on specific exam questions. However, you will receive a score report within three (3) business days of your exam. The report shows how you did on each exam section and should help you prepare for your next attempt.

How can I get a badge?

Our digital badging/credentialing is available to candidates who were certified in January 2016 or later. Newly certified individuals should receive a badge within three (3) business days of passing a Pivotal certification exam. Please look for an email from our online credentials manager, BadgeCert.

Do you provide sample tests or mock questions?

The best way to prepare for our certification exams is to take the associated training course. We do not provide sample tests or mock questions. However, most of our exams include a study guide and/or exam brief, which should help you prepare for the exam.

How can I get a return my exam purchase for a refund?

Exam fees are non-refundable. However, exams dates may be rescheduled directly with the exam provider. All schedule changes must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
