Redis for PCF packages the widely-used NoSQL database as an easy-to-use service in any cloud. Developers use Redis for PCF to provide fast access to data for their applications while operations teams have the control and information needed to manage an enterprise-ready data service.
Efficient Provisioning Matched to Use Cases
Operators define service plans according to developers’ needs. Service includes pre-defined plans for caching with persistence and Redis as a datastore.
Provide Self-Service Access to Developers
Developers dynamically provision and configure dedicated instances matching their applications' needs or use pre-provisioned instances to add Redis caching to apps.
Support Entire Cloud-Native Developer Organizations
Take advantage of significant automation for operator and developer lifecycles. Install, manage, monitor, and update Redis in Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Ensure deployments meet enterprise requirements.
Redis is an open source, in-memory data structure store, used as a database and cache. It supports data structures such as strings, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets with range queries, bitmaps, hyperloglogs and geospatial indexes with radius queries.
Create and destroy service instances on demand as required.
Create and destroy service instances connected to pre-provisioned resources.
Option for fully automated management of the service on Pivotal Cloud Foundry. Monitoring, failure recovery, and software updates.
Automate periodic backups and allow for restoring from a backup if needed.
Operators can customize service plan definitions to support internal chargeback packages and enforce resource constraints.
Pre-defined services plans for cache with persistence use cases are included.
Operators can choose from a list of provided configuration values to expose to the application developers so they can override these to customize dedicated instances.
The service is documented with instructions for setup and operation.
Encryption in motion. Data transmitted between app and service are encrypted when service is deployed in IPSEC-configured environment.
Tile and service instance events and metrics are piped to the Loggregator logging system to integrate with existing Pivotal Cloud Foundry monitoring and alerting.
Quotas. Operators can place limits on service instance counts.
Uses smoketests to automatically verify that basic functionality is live during instantiation.
Operators download the service and install it on Pivotal Cloud Foundry installations. Once the service is successfully installed and configured, the exposed service plans are made available to developers through the Service Marketplace.
- Redis for PCF offers On-Demand, Dedicated-VM and Shared-VM plans.
- On-Demand plans are operator-configured and enabled. Once enabled, App Developers can provision a Redis instance from that plan.
- Dedicated-VM plan deploys the operator-configured number of dedicated Redis VMs alongside the service broker VM. These instances are pre-provisioned during the deployment of the tile from OpsManager into a pool.
- Shared VM plan deploys a Redis instance inside the service broker VM. The maximum number of instances can be increased from the default 5 and operators can also increase the maximum amount of RAM allocated to each Redis process (service instance) that is running on this VM.
The Redis for PCF service is available on Pivotal Network.
